Labour Ministry Confirms September 14 & 15 National Holidays

NICARAGUA NEWS – The ministry of Labour confirmed that September 14 and 15 are national holidays, in celebration of Independence Day.

Labour minister, José León Argüello, said the days are compulsory holidays, with the right to rest and be paid.

Furthermore, according to the provisions of Article 68 of the Labour Code, if the holiday falls on a Sunday, like the case of the 14th, employees will have an additional day off, Tuesday in this case, with normal the normal work week resuming on Wednesday, September 17.

Employees who are obligated to work on Sunday the 14th, will also receive additional pay for the day.
