NICARAGUA NEWS — The government has proposed a bill to promote the development of a convention tourism in the country.
Although convention tourism is one of the fastest growing segments, not all sectors agree with the bill, because, for some “…the country still does not have sufficient infrastructure to develop convention events.”
Avarro Dieguez, president of the Hotel Association of Nicaragua, told elnuevodiario.com that “… Guatemala, Panama and Costa Rica bring together the largest events held in the region because in Nicaragua we do not have the infrastructure to achieve these conventions, Nicaragua still has wilderness areas that can be exploited for tourism.”
The president of the Tourism Commission of the National Assembly, Pedro Joaquin Chamorro, added “… starting next week will call on Nicaragua’s different tourism sectors to hear proposals. The submission says that this type of tourism can strongly increase spending and the average stay of visitors in a country. ”
