Nicaragua Tourist Arrivals Fall 28%

The Nicaraguan Institute of Tourism reports that during 2018 the country had 1.4 million visitor arrivals, a figure that is 28% lower than the 1.9 million recorded in 2017.

With several months in arrears, the published report on the country’s tourism situation, reflects that after the sector came growing steadily, the decline is attibured to the social and political crisis that the country is going through since April last year.

The report states that in 2015, 2016 and 2017, there was a sustained increase in the number of tourist arrivals, however, during 2018 the numbers dropped.
