According to the report post on the government website, the rains caused damage to 11 of the 17 departments, 7,041 houses, 12 schools, a church and a health centre.

“The slopes of the volcanoes in the country are quite unstable, so during heavy rains landslides could arise that may descend at high speed,” said Guillermo Gonzalez, head of the National System of Care and Prevention (SINAPRED).

On Monday, the Secretary of the City Council, Fidel Moreno, toured the areas where heavy rains caused damages and review the clean up and repair works in progress.
