On Wednesday, two more migrants were found dead, presumed drowend, in Lake Cocibolca, near the border with Costa Rica.

That brings the total to ten, the number of migrants who have died in the past few days, in their attempt to reach the United States after travelling through Costa Rica and Panama, arriving from places like Colombia, Ecuador and Peru.

Costa Rica officials report that more than 2,000 migrants – Africans and Haitians – are presumed to have crossed into Nicaragua illegally; the number of migrants less in Costa Rica waiting to move north.

Although at first the drowned are believed to be Africans, more likely they are Haitians, in Costa Rica posing as Africans to claim a right of asylum.
