487 Homes Affected By Latest Earthquake

(TODAY NICARAGUA)  total of 487 homes were affected by the 5.4 magnitude earthquake occurred Wednesday morning and whose epicentre was 2.9 kilometers deep between the El Hoyo and Momotombo volcanos.

The coordinator of the Communication and Citizenship Rosario Murillo said that 69 homes were completely destroyed, many others with serious structural damage, including walls and roods.

Murillo said that on Friday the delivery of 500 material and other aid and that specialists are in the area to assess their needs so that the families can return to normal safely.

She also said that no one knows when the seismic swarm will end. It is worth mentioning that according to specialists of the INET, the quake on Wednesday is an “exceptionally large” replica of the 5.9 quake registered on the night of September 14.

Apart from material damage, the Wednesday left one dead, a 78 year old woman in the municipality of Nagarote, who suffered a heart attack when the quake hit.
