TODAY NICARAGUA – At around 0:24 this Tuesday, an earthquake of magnitude 6.2 on the Richter scale shook a good part of Nicaragua.
According to the Instituto Nicaragüense de Estudios Territoriales (Ineter) – Nicaraguan Institute for Territorial Studies, this second earthquake of great intensity originated 68 kilometers southwest of El Astillero, in the Nicaraguan Pacific, at a depth of 31 kilometers.
The first, a 6.3-degree earthquake alerted Nicaraguans around 8:53 pm Monday.
According to Ineter, this earthquake originated 82 kilometers southwest of Huehuete, always in the Pacific. This earthquake occurred at a depth of 21 kilometers
Vice president Rosario Murillo told the official media that no incident had been reported.
In her second report, in the early hours of Tuesday, that there had been a seismic swarm because there were two more tremors of less intensity. One was 3.4 degrees and the second 4.2 degrees.
She pointed out that the country is on the alert for such phenomena.
According to Ineter, these earthquakes are related to the tectonic shock processes between the Cocos and Caribe plates.
