The crisis in Nicaragua left six people wounded during an armed operation against a tranque (barricade) Estelí Tuesday night, while in Masaya they burned a hotel and beat a man. In addition, in Chinandega, a car appeared with an impact from a gunshot and in Juigalpa and Boaco the protesters have opened some roads for 72 hours.
The barricades in Esteli are now four weeks old, located at the southern exit of Estelí, just at kilometer 143 of the Pan-American Highway north.
The removal of the barricades on the part of paramilitaries and antiriot police began in the hours of Tuesday night and ended at about two o’clock in the morning of this Wednesday, June 20, when they managed to clear the Pan-American highway.
Gerardo López, president of the Student Movement, said that until now he does not know of any deaths due to the armed operation.
Although the barricade in Estelí has been dismantled, that of La Trinidad remains.
Masaya. Wednesday morning there was a report of the burning of a hotel owned by Cristian Fajardo, a leader of the Student Movement April 19. They also beat Adolfo René Caballero, Fajardo’s uncle, who was in the premises.
On Wednesday morning, they funerals of the six people killed Monday during an armed operation in Masaya, took place.
In Chinandega, a vehicle with bullet impacts dawned on the main roundabout of the town. There was nobody in the vehicle.
Since Tuesday night, around 8 pm, until almost 3 am Wednesday, in Chinandega you could hear shots ring out and noise from motorcycles traveling at high speed.
