Nicaragua $30 million for Water and Sanitation

1074_940TODAY NICARAGUA – The National Assembly has approved a loan from the CABEI to build water and sanitation systems, storage tanks, septic tanks, sewers and household connections.

From a statement issued by the National Assembly of Nicaragua:

Following the adoption of a decree for a $30 million loan signed between the Republic of Nicaragua and the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI ), 121 rural municipalities will benefit from the implementation of the “Project for Sustainability Rural of Water and Sanitation”

The project comprises the construction of water and sanitation systems, equipment, construction of storage tanks, septic tanks and soakaways plus sewers and household connections, the departments covered are Boaco, Carazo, Chinandega, Chontales , Estelí, Granada and Jinotega , León, Madriz, Managua, Masaya, Matagalpa, Nueva Segovia, Rio San Juan and Rivas.

“Drinking water enables households to reduce conditions of extreme poverty, as consuming poor quality water puts people at risk of acquiring parasites and poisoning from toxic materials or heavy metals”.
