(TODAY NICARAGUA) The consumer price index in May registered a variation of 0.51%, accumulating growth of 2.79% in the year.
From the monthly report on inflation by the Central Bank of Nicaragua:
In May monthly inflation stood at 0.51 percent (0.94% in December 2014), determined mainly by price increases in the divisions of transport (2.37%); Food and non-alcoholic beverages (0.29%); and recreation and culture (2.85%); which together contributed 0.389 percentage points to the observed variation. In contrast, the communications division showed the opposite behavior, reflecting a variation of -0.95 percent, with a contribution of -0024 pp.
Accumulated national inflation was recorded at 1.58 percent (2.79% in May 2014), influenced by the behavior of prices in the divisions of restaurants and hotels; education, and transportation, which together reported 66 percent of the accumulated result.
