Nicaragua Approves US$62 Million for Caribbean Highway

TODAY NICARAGUA – The National Assembly has approved a loan from the Central American Bank for Economic Integration for hydraulic cement paving of 45 kms of the stretch passing through La Gateada- Naciones Unidas – Bluefields.

From a statement issued by the National Assembly of Nicaragua:

The National Assembly unanimously approved on January 27, a Loan Decree to finance the Road Connectivity Project on the Caribbean coast, which will be implemented by the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure.

The total amount for the Road Connectivity project is in the order of US$62,761,000 and the funds to be used to finance the Gateada- Naciones Unidas- Bluefields road will come from the Central American Bank for Development with the aim of increasing physical accessibility of the population of the Autonomous South Atlantic Region (RAAS), thus facilitating their integration into national and regional productive markets.
