Nicaragua Can Always Count on Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canel Says

TODAY NICARAGUA – Managua (Prensa Latina) Cuba’s First Vice-President, Miguel Diaz-Canel, has ratified here today that Nicaragua can always count on the unconditional support, friendship, solidarity and cooperation of the Cuban people, government and revolution.

It is a pleasure for us to visit this land, which we love and appreciate so much, Diaz-Canel said after arriving in Managua to participate in the Inaguration ceremony of reelected President, Daniel Ortega, and that of Rosario Murillo as Vice President.

The first vice president stated that he has sent on this occasion a warm, affectionate and committed message on behalf of the Cuban people and President Raul Castro on this historic day for Nicaragua.

We have come here to share the Nicaraguan jubilation for this victory, because we believe this is a victory not only of the Central American nation, but also of Latin America and the Caribbean for the good of our peoples, of integration, unity and to guarantee peace in our region, he said.

This is an opportunity to recognize, on behalf of the Cuban people and government, the capacity the Nicaraguan people has demonstrated to develop and grow, Diaz-Canel said.

The economic and social successes of the Nicaraguan nation are indisputable today.

Ortega and Murillo will hold today their respective posts for the 2017-2022 period, with the commitment to strengthen the country’s peace, security and stability, he stated.

The ceremony will take place in the emblematic Revolution Square, located in the historical center of Managua, with the participation of several heads of State, high-leve representatives of several governments, political parties, movements and international organizations.
