People en Español magazine presented its list of the most powerful women in 2019, that includes the disabled Nicaraguan television presenter, Daisy Picky Báez, who won through an online vote her right to be on that list with María Celeste Arrarás, Dayanara Torres, Geraldine Bazán, Karol G, Francisca Lachapel and Jennifer López (on the cover).

Each year, People selects the 25 most powerful women.
In the March 2019 edition, the magazine decided to include a woman with a history of personal improvement, thus five women were selected by five celebrities that are part of the list. It was a competition where readers voted for four weeks.
Báez was nominated by the presenter of “Al Rojo Vivo”, María Celeste Arrarás.
“Daisy Báez is an exceptional young woman, an example of tenacity and determination that teaches us what is possible when we believe in our dreams,” Arrarás told People en Español in January when voting began.
Daisy Picky Báez is 31 years old and was born with Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), a rare neuromuscular disorder characterised by loss of lower motor neurons
“My disease is genetic, it is motor atrophy that damages the nerve endings of the hands and feet. Which affects movement and displacement,” she said smiling, adding that there is nothing better than doing what you like.
“We all have problems and fears, but we cannot let that stop us from doing what we want, we are born with the no, we seek the yes, we lose nothing,” she said.
In August 2017, Telemundo featured Báez, showing her as a woman who, despite her disability, has achieved her dreams. On that visit, she could not meet Maria Celeste. It was not until January 2018, that she returned to Telemundo precisely as a guest of María Celeste, that is where the presenter of the international network knew the story of Baéz, which motivated her to nominate her to People.
