Up to the month of April, the monthly index of economic activity registered growth of 5.7%, mainly explained by the Fisheries and aquaculture, and Livestock sectors.
From a statement issued by the Central Bank:
The report indicates that the IMAE reflected a growth of 5.7 percent compared with the same period in 2015. The annual average change was 4.8 percent and the cumulative growth in the January-April period was 4.4 percent.
Underlying growth, measured by the IMAE trend cycle showed a variation of 4.0 percent year on year and annual average of 4.7 percent. Meanwhile, the IMAE seasonally adjusted series decreased by 1.1 percent compared to March.
The BCN noted in the report that the fastest growing activities were fishing and aquaculture, with 62.8 percent (20.5% accumulated from January to April); livestock, 15.6 percent (7.1% accumulated from January to April); financial intermediation and related services, 9.7 percent (9.7% also in the amount accumulated from January to April); manufacturing, 8.1 percent (3.2% accumulated from January to April) and trade, 5.9 percent (5.5% accumulated from January to April).
